Playwright/Podcaster/Filmmaker/Director (and much more) Patrick Flynn sat down with Embracing Arlington Arts President Janet Kopenhaver to talk about the many hats he has worn during his career. How exactly does one write an adaptation of a children’s book? What is the unique story about Peter Pan adaptations? What does he have guests talk about on his podcast The Original Cast? I started a podcast because I love podcasts and one of my favorites is The Original Cast with Patrick Flynn. In this episode of Stage Door Stories, Patrick and I chat about theater, cast albums, Daniel Radcliffe, and the art of the podcast.
Join host Kimberly Schmidt and her husband Jay as they try to transform their friend Alex Fossella from casual theater goer to full-out fan boy.

"Ironic," was EVERYWHERE in 1996. You couldn't escape it. And it turned into Alanis Morissette's biggest hit to date. This song is challenging. Unless you're Alanis Morissette, she kinda just doesn't care. Nothing mentioned in this song is actually ironic, they just suck. But this week we take the time to slightly tweak the lyrics so that they become ironic. We also rank all of the happenings on a scale of 1- 10 based on how much they suck. Patrick tells us about the biggest fight that he has ever gotten into. Plus he spent many of his formative years lying about Nirvana and "Weird" Al. Join us on an exploration of the most 90's song and video as we discuss the unironic story of Mr. Play-It -Safe, and why this song may actually be ironic afterall.

50th Episode Special: We were lucky enough to have an awesome, recorded conversation with Patrick Flynn (The Original Cast) about Billy Joel. Brad is not a fan. Patrick is a huge fan. Katie has no strong opinions...other than that she loves Oliver & Co.. We go through Joel's catalog of hit songs over the years, from “Captain Jack” to “The River of Dreams,” and plenty in between. We learn that Brad loves some Billy Joel songs even though he doesn't like Billy Joel. Patrick is ashamed of some of his Billy Joel love. Katie forgets things about Billy Joel and doesn't realize some Billy Joel songs are by Billy Joel. But we spend some time discussing other artists; Alexa Ray Joel, Neil Young, Frankie Valli, Semisonic, Nine Days, and, obviously, the cost of driving through Delaware.
